Nicholas Benson
Nicholas Benson is a 22 year old with a passion for writing. Since high school he has been interested in various aspects of literature which spreads from novels, poems and plays to articles and journals. He has achieved A Levels in the subjects of English Literature, Media and ICT and an AS Level in History. As of June 2010 he completed a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree with a grade of 2:1 in Journalism and English Literature.
During his time at university he has experienced putting together news features, reviews and reports, some of which have involved vox pops, where he has had to ask members of the public for their opinions on certain topics and also interviews. He has interviewed local MPs, religious figures, sports figures, bands and environmentalists. He has also attended a press conference at Premier League Football Club, Wigan Athletic. He has gained two National Council for the Training of Journalist qualifications in Court Reporting and General Law and has also passed an NCTJ shorthand exam at 60 words per minute.
He has experienced writing assignments ranging from 1,500 words to 3,500 words on topics including psychoanalysis, British theatre, British writers, Charles Dickens, green writing and the language of names. His creative and imaginitive view on the use and importance of stage directions within the theatre has been praised. He has also written poems which have been praised by some people with a passion for poetry. Whilst in College and University he contributed to the magazine and newspaper.
He likes to mix his passion for literature, journalism and writing with his other passions in life, which include football, wrestling, music, television, comedy and nature.
